CELEBRITIES
Several well-known personalities accepted invitations to appear along the route. We are greatly indebted to the following:
- Marcella Bayliss / Earth Summit
- Earth Summit is the only horse ever to have won the Scottish National (1994),
the Welsh National (1997) and the Grand National (1998). We are most grateful
to his owner Marcella Bayliss for bringing him along to Chepstow to support
us.
- Dr Stephanie Cook MBE
- Olympic Gold
Medallist, Modern Pentathlon Sydney 2000 and World Champion, 2001. Dr Cook met us in Bath at the Royal Crescent on Sunday 26th August. (please see our Ride Log for a report of the day's events and Photo Gallery 1 for further pictures);
- Alison Dawes
- former Olympic showjumper, and twice winner of the Hickstead Derby and the Queen's Cup. Alison paraded Kaan at Hereford Races on Thursday 4th October and was featured on BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester later in the day telling listeners how much she had enjoyed the experience;
- George Duffield
- Britain's senior flat-race jockey, winning races since 1967, George has collected over 1,300 wins including the Oaks and Champion Stakes. His recent partners include the brilliant Giant's Causeway. George paraded Kaan at Haydock Park and then went on to win the final race of the afternoon - a bonus, as Stanley Leisure had, in addition to their generous £250 donation, given us £100 to place on any horse in the final race - and we chose George's!
- Sally Jones
- First woman TV sports presenter,
former Real Tennis World Champion, writer and
broadcaster. Sally rode Kaan along Wenlock Edge on Friday, 7th September and accepted on our behalf a cheque from Shropshire and Wrekin M.E. Support Group in Much Wenlock later in the day. Sally's report is available in our Ride Log, Week Three and further pictures are displayed in our Photo Gallery;
- Brough Scott
- Presenter of Channel 4 Racing,
sports writer. Brough rode Kaan for the first leg of the Odyssey on Wednesday 22nd August at Lulworth Cove. A report is presented in our Ride Log and further pictures are displayed in our Photo Gallery 1. The October 4th edition of Horse and Hound also features an article written by Brough describing his experiences of the day

- Peter Scudamore MBE
