Moreton Morrell BE90 ODE
24th September 2011
Dressage not brilliant, clear SJ – and a fabulous clear
XC! What an end to the season!
West Wilts BE90 ODE
10th September 2011
Aina is now well aware
that she has XC to look forward to, and her dressage concentration
is deteriorating. No matter; her work at home is coming on
beautifully, and she will settle in time.
Dressage, then, not too good! Clear SJ, as
we have come to expect. This time her one run-out was totally
allowable; at an offset skinny corner as the second part of
a double, quite technical for this level. Again, staright
through a strange water.
Solihull BE90 ODE
21st August 2011
A long trek up to the edge of Birmingham brought a passable
dressage and another SJ clear. Roz was sent back from the
XC start for an expected hour's delay due to a faller, then
suddenly recalled and had to start almost at once. She had
a horrible ride over the first few fences with Aina
not concentrating, and ran out at the fourth. Afterwards they
got into their stride and finished like a train, including
going fluently through their first unfamiliar water complex.
Sapey BE90 ODE
17th August 2011
After a XC school at Hilltop jumping every ditch they could
find, Roz and Aina made a confident
start at this level with just one run-out XC.
Urchinwood ODE
31st July 2011
An unaffiliated pipe-opener for Roz and Aina
to start the summer. Unfortunately, after a good dressage
and clear SJ, they fell victim to the bogey fence, an open
ditch, collecting 20 penalties which dropped them out of contention.
Jobs for the Boys
25th July 2011
Two months' hell trying to get two clapped-out old mares
in foal. Sam's inamorata
Pepsi, though 21, was worth trying, having being placed as
a Small Hack at the Royal International Horse Show. Xan's
girl Willow, though comparatively a spring chicken at 16,
had persistent fluid on the uterus and couldn't conceive.
Both old girls were exceptionally obliging,
and the boys thought all their Christmases had come at once,
while I gradually lost the will to live as one negative scan
succeeded another.
Intruders…
26th June 2011
We had some visitors on the yard last night. In the morning
both boys' doors were wrongly, inadequately, but identically
fastened. Someone had opened both doors and gone into the
boxes overnight – stallion boxes, and with two mares,
one full in-season, on the adjoining yard. It was incredibly
lucky they didn't let either, or, worse, both of them out.
Most likely it was people from the campsite
walking the long way round back from the pub after a skinful,
and larking about without realising the risk they were taking.
But it's padlocks on both doors from now on.
Sapey BE80(T) One-Day-Event
13th April 2011
Better dressage – no vertical take-offs his time, clear
SJ but a couple of run-outs XC. Never mind; two starts, two
completions. And through the water without hesitation!
Roz is now back at university, so nothing
more until August.
Howick BE80(T) One-Day-Event
3rd April 2011
Roz and Aina's British Eventing
debut!
Dressage started nicely, until Aina
spotted and jumped an imaginary fence in the arena. Roz kept
her cool admirably, and still managed a nice test.
Clear SJ and XC (except for time faults, which
at this stage are almost mandatory!) – great start!
