Letters in Support of Geldy

18th February 2014

Below are links to three short letters you can use to ask the President of Turkmenistan and the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs to allow Geldy and his family to leave Turkmenistan so Geldy can receive medical treatment. The letters refer to Amnesty International's recent Urgent Action call, further information on which is available here.

Please complete the letters with your name and address (the Word files will allow you to do this before you print or send them; most people will need to first print the Acrobat pdf files and complete their personal details by hand).

Thank you.

24th January 2007

Below, we have posted letters for you print and complete (your address, the name and address of your MP/MEP, the date, as required) or to use as a starting point for your own letter. The letter explains Geldy's situation, but in particular asks that demands be made on the Turkmen government to say whether Geldy is alive.

Last October the European Union took a strong stance against Turkmenistan's appalling Human Rights record. With the former President now dead and an "election" pending, there has never been a better time to persuade Turkmenistan to amend its Human Rights record.

Thank you.
