The Great Flood…

After the wonderful weather in March, the last six weeks
have been all the more of a nightmare. The school is too soggy
to use, with a great pool of silt in one corner washed down
off the bank; and the woods aren't much better. Sam
has a problem with his back, and is under the physio; Xan
has wolf teeth, which have to come out before he can progress;
while Teddy seems to dislike
his new saddle, fitted by a first-class professional…
or is it just that he can't lift his feet out of the squelch
without complaining about the effort? Can any of us…?

Dressage passable, another over-fast SJ with a fence down.
XC absolutely fantastic! Roz and Aina
went like pros, going clear - and inside the time without
trying. (The only way it should be done!) It's going to seem
a long time until the Long Vac.

We'd done a couple of dressage tests at Huntley as a warm-up,
and it showed. Roz and Aina did
their best test so far to place them in the top half of their
section.
This time it was the SJ that went a bit pear-shaped,
with an over-fast round and a fence down. Aina
is getting over-confident in this phase; it's high time she
was jumping bigger fences, which would elicit more respect
from her. But it's not a bad problem to have!
XC was a typical first-time-out-and-a-bit-rusty;
one run-out was at the bogey fence, the Anchor, but the other
was superfluous!
